Subscribers of the PlayStation Network have confirmed that they are unable to play online games or visit the company’s website due to a worldwide outage. Users may get errors saying, “The connection to the server timed out” or “An error has occurred” when trying to access PSN.

Everything was affected by the outage, including PSN network features and gameplay. Frustrated, users tried to log in to the PlayStation Network but were unable to play single-player or multiplayer games that needed an internet connection. Numerous PlayStation systems, such as the PS5, PS4, PS Vita, and PS3, were impacted by the problem. The impacted categories were displayed on the service website under “Other, PS Vita, PS3, PS4, PS5, Web,” demonstrating how pervasive the problem is.

The outage has been confirmed by the PlayStation Network status page, which also notes that it affects all services, including PlayStation Video, PlayStation Store, PlayStation Direct, account administration, and gaming and social. “You might have difficulty launching games, apps, or network features. We’re working to resolve the issue as soon as possible. Thank you for your patience.”

Furthermore, there has been no indication of when the issue would be fixed. The outage occurred at a particularly interesting time because earlier in the day, Sony had resolved another issue pertaining to the home screen artwork on PS5 games. Though it’s uncertain if the two events are related, this flaw had been fixed just hours before the network outage.
